“Preschool Stories with Stinchy” is designed with our youngest patrons in mind, ages zero to five years. During “normal” times our gatherings take place the first Friday of every month during the school year, September through June. We’ll share a story, maybe some sign language or a song, a craft project or some movement activities, and then we let the kiddos guide us to where we’ll go, which often includes the metal back door that is covered in alphabet, number, and butterfly magnets, or maybe the box that holds the wooden train track and the little engine that could.
Preschool Stories will be returning soon as a virtual offering that families will be able to easily access here on our website or on our Facebook page in “Cushman’s Story Time Circle.” We look forward to the day when we can all be together in the Children’s Room again, but we will be waiting until the kiddos can be protected by vaccination as well.
Preschool Story Time (PSST) is funded by the PVRS Coordinated Family & Community Engagement Grant. We appreciate Deb Wood’s work to keep us all connected as together we foster literacy among the young ones in our community.
Each October, families who participate in either PSST or our weekly all ages Story Hour create portions of what will become Cushman’s submission to the scarecrow contest as part of Scarecrow in the Park, the annual fall festival that takes place just down the street at Cushman Park. We had great fun creating The Lorax and his Truffula trees in 2018!
